Equine Journaling Founding Cohort
Learn to see the horse before the story. A five-week live practicum for equine professionals. No art skills required.
Six seats, five weeks. Calls are Thursdays at 6:00pm Pacific/9:00pm Eastern, October 22 to November 19. Enrollment closes Tuesday, October 13.
the five live calls with replays, the complete self-paced course, a certificate of completion, an illustrated welcome kit, and one written review of your sketch pages.
Call 1. Seeing before naming. Looking without the story, and recording only what you can point to.
Call 2. Direction and Load. Where the horse is pointed, and where its weight is landing. Two things you can see in seconds once you know to look, and they say more than most of what you were told about the horse.
Call 3. Impulse and change. Load is the horse landing; Impulse is the horse leaving, the push that starts every stride. With all three in view, you learn to tell when a horse is different from the last time you saw it, before it becomes a problem.
Call 4. From the page to your judgment. What you saw, what you assumed, and how to tell the two apart on your own pages.
Call 5. Your five weeks. Your own before-and-after, and where the practice goes from here.
Equine professionals: bodyworkers, trainers, instructors, and practitioners whose work depends on reading posture, movement, and change accurately. Your clients already trust your eye. This practicum sharpens the instrument.
Five weekly live calls, 75 minutes each, Thursdays at 6:00pm Pacific / 9:00pm Eastern: October 22, October 29, November 5, November 12, and November 19. Between calls, you practice with the horses already in your day: short observation-and-sketch sessions folded into the work you are doing anyway. Every call is recorded and replays are shared with the cohort. Open to professionals anywhere.
Yes. The practicum uses drawing as a recording tool, not an art form. The lines are functional and the standard is legibility to you, not beauty. Most professionals find the drawing is the easy part; the discipline of observing before interpreting is the real work.
Any horse you can safely and regularly observe: client horses, your own, boarders. No riding required, and no handling beyond what you already do.
Plan on a few short practice sessions of 15 to 20 minutes between calls, folded into barn time you already have.
Every call is recorded and the replay is shared with the cohort, so you can catch up before the next Thursday.
Yes. Replays are shared with cohort members only, and this is part of what you agree to when you enroll.
Full refund any time before the first call on October 22. After the first call, refunds are not available, but your seat can be transferred to a future cohort.
